How to remove stains from an office chair

The office chair is often abused. It can easily acquire and accumulate dirt, dust, coffee stains, and even sweat stains. Keep in mind that task chairs today are not cheap. If you don’t want to spend money on a new task chair, you should keep your current one clean and in good condition.

If there are stains, wipe them off immediately. Here are some tips on how to do it:

Tip 1: sweat stains can be removed with vinegar. Push your chair into a cleaning area. Mix one cup of distilled white vinegar and one cup of warm water. To apply the solution evenly, put it in a spray bottle. Spray it all over the stained areas of the seat fabric. Let the acids in the vinegar wash away the sweat stains. It usually takes about an hour to finish this task.

After an hour, remove the contents of the spray bottle and fill it with water. Spray water on the chair but do not completely soak the foams. Just spray it enough to remove some of the residue from the solution. Leave your chair in a nice, warm room to dry completely.

Tip 2: Vinegar tends to leave a lingering smell on furniture. You can substitute it for lemon juice. Citric acids dissolve sweat and food stains. Coffee stains can also be removed with this natural cleaner. You may want to use lemon instead of other citric acids because it is lighter in color. Mix one cup of lemon juice with one cup of water and put the solution in a spray bottle.

Spray the solution on the stained areas of the chair. Let it dry before using it again. Stains should disappear after an hour and your chair should smell fresh and clean.

Tip 3: Try using milk to remove ink stains if ink has been accidentally spilled. Milk contains lactic acid which removes the ink from the fibers of the seat foams. Treat the stained areas with milk. After an hour, use an absorbent cloth to absorb excess moisture and remove stains. Do this until the stains are completely gone. Spray the area with clean water and allow it to dry completely before using it again.

If you want to avoid staining your work chair, you can try attaching seat covers. Waterproof seat covers can repel liquid. This will make cleaning work a bit easier.
