The 5 cheapest destinations to fly in the US

Flights are expensive. I often have enough hotel and car points to get free rooms and rentals, but I’ll still break the bank if I make the trip just for the flight.

The thing is, I finally wanted to go beyond driving distance. Who doesn’t want to see the world? Fortunately, there are certain destinations that are usually cheaper than others. If you can book early and get the price right, you just might get a GREAT break.

1. Chicago: Chicago is generally the cheapest flight price from virtually anywhere in the US, Chicago is such a central hub that, thankfully, airlines make it easy for virtually anyone to get to. While it is neither the flashiest nor the largest city, it does have a lot to offer in terms of tourism, especially if you’ve never been!

2. Orlando: Fortunately for all Disney fans, Orlando ranks second cheapest in flight prices. This varies a lot by season, but in general, your biggest costs here will be tickets to the Disney parks.

3. Washington DC: Another cheaper option throughout the year, Washington DC is always a solid option for a visit. There is a lot of history, but it is also a city full of life if you are looking for something more current. Obviously it’s a political world if you have any interest in it, but even architecture is fun to go through if you don’t. Cherry blossoms are beautiful in the spring too!

4. New York City: Oh, New York. If you’ve never been, get on a plane and check it out at least once. While the tickets are not as cheap as others on this list, they are not crazy either. Most of the flights have a stopover in New York, so it is possible to travel to it. The city is amazing (albeit expensive) with almost endless things to do.

5. Austin, Texas: Since I have never been to Austin, I cannot give a personal recommendation, but I have been told that it is a fun but very spiritual city (do they go together?). I also know that again a lot of flights have layovers here, which generally makes it cheaper; It’s not a great destination for leisure travel either, so it’s likely less expensive than other tourism-based cities.

For additional discounts, try using apps that hide your browser location so airlines don’t check where you’re looking from and raise prices (seriously, I’ve saved over $ 50 this way). Cheers to discounted travel to the USA!
