The French paradox: how the French eat all that greasy food and still stay healthy

Perhaps a question that has remained on the minds of many is how the French can eat so many of those rich cakes and amazing cuisines and still stay healthy. One view of this is that the French, like many European countries, are not consumed with the need to add heavy preservatives to food. Things like MSG have not gained the appeal as they have in the United States. Since MSG is able to preserve food and enhance flavor, it is also a chemical that the body was not designed to consume. This has resulted in increased numbers of cancer, digestive tract problems, and even obesity in the United States.

Much of France has adopted the most traditional cooking methods and also the most natural ingredients. This has been one of the most obvious reasons why the French have been able to consume larger amounts of breaded products and still have fewer complications than their American counterparts. This has caused some people in America to reconsider their diets and has also encouraged them to look at the ingredients in the items they buy in stores.

France has become a hybrid of two basic forms of food, both French and Italian. With the growing interest in the Mediterranean style that has developed in the southern parts of France, there has been an increase in the amounts of both oil and cooking agents. Even with these items included in the staple diet of the French, they have still shown a better standard of long-term health than those on the other side of the Atlantic.

Even in the infusion of Mediterranean foods, there has been an increased use of olive oil and other natural base oils that are recently gaining appeal in the United States. With the heavy use of oils and less use of enhancers in the form of chemicals, France has been one of the countries that has shown that food is more than just improvements. Some of the most famous dishes have called France home and have seen little change in the format of their preparation. This has been due in large part to the fact that many of the French have no interest in consuming foods that contain elements that have no real purpose.

Perhaps the most important factor why MSG and other enhancers have not had a great impact in France is the pride that many French people take in their cuisine. There are few places that can claim to be the center of cuisine, and this is a claim that much of France has had for many generations. With the pride that comes from such a claim, it is no wonder that people prefer the more traditional and natural methods to cooking and foods that are made. The French are really proof that sometimes the modern approach is not always the best method for a healthy life. A standard that some other countries are beginning to see and are in turn following.
