Window types to choose from

single or double hung – This has 2 sashes with one installed on top of the other. The simple hanging has a mobile leaf together with a fixed one. The main advantage of this option is that it does not use outside space, making them a great option in areas where outdoor activity or obstruction may interfere. For areas where you can’t get full access to open and close them, that’s the one place these aren’t good options.

Window frame – It works like a door, in which it can be opened to one side or the other. It is operated by crank mechanisms but is of push out styles. The main benefit of this option is that it is multiple. Offers better sight lines as there is no sash frame in the middle that can obstruct your view. Also, it works well in situations where limited range or perhaps limited physical accessibility.

Awning – This is quite similar to casement windows, but can open horizontally from the top. It opens at the bottom and often swings out. Some can also open inwards. It allows light into the room while keeping it private. It is a great option if you live in a rainy environment but want to get good ventilation, since it can be opened up and out; therefore, it will keep the rain out and the air in.

Hopper – This is pretty similar to the awning except that it flips – it opens at the top. It also opens inwards instead of outwards. It is an excellent choice for small window applications. Also, it has less frame to block the light efficiently. Most owners prefer this option, since it can be easily cleaned from the inside. It is a great option for the base.

tilt-and-turn – This is a combination of a hopper and a casement window. It can be opened and tilted in from the top. Its main advantage is its flexibility. You can give it a window that can do more things.
