Fast growing 3D printing in China

China is on the list of fast developing countries. With a population of around 1.5 billion, China has been one of the world’s largest manufacturers and exporters of a wide variety of products. Things you can import and buy from China include but are not limited to toys, clothing, and electronics. Recently, the country has entered the world of 3D printing. Let’s find out more about 3D printing companies in China.

the grand alliance

A few years ago, the leaders of the 3D printing industry came together to form an alliance in order to achieve a common goal: promote new technology throughout the state. The interesting news is that many popular universities were part of this alliance. Some big names include Tsinghua University, Beijing Aeronautical University, and Huazhong United University of Science, just to name a few.

In addition to these universities, several of China’s leading research institutes were also part of the alliance. They took it to the next level by revealing their plans at the third meeting in Chengdu.

Investment in the Industry

The objective of the alliance is to establish a 3D printing center in China. Since the government is also interested in the project, the investment will be made by both the members and the state. In Shuangliu County, the center will be established.

Some 3D printing statistics

In traditional manufacturing, workers cut the entire piece. On the other hand, in 3D printing, engineers use a special additive concept instead of the common removal concept. Until now, factories in China have not made use of the special additive manufacturing process. It is interesting to note that about 90% of the world’s 3D printers are under the control of China. On the other hand, the United States has more than 40% of all printing houses in the world.

As stated earlier, the purpose of the 3D printing center is to drive Research and Development and help manufacture the electronic parts.

What does the future of 3D printing look like?

In China itself, more such projects may be established. Outside of China, other countries can also set up such centers by spending billions of dollars. And with this, the technology is expected to evolve at an incredibly faster rate.

Some people are of the opinion that the big names in the industry should not get too much support as it can hurt smaller manufacturers. However, supporters of the big names are of the opinion that helping industry leaders will help small manufacturers that do not have the necessary amount of funds for research and development.

So we can see how China is progressing in the field of 3D printing. Other countries are also following in China’s footsteps to take advantage of this great industry of the future. No matter who becomes the leader, we commoners will definitely get a lot of benefits from such industries. And, hopefully, there will be enough competition to keep the cost to a minimum and avoid monopoly. Let’s see what happens on the way.
