Homemade Christmas Crafts – Braided Calico Christmas Wreath

Materials needed:

• 3 pieces of shimmery calico strips in contrasting colors (red, green, gold) – each 4 1/2″ x 44″
• 1 bone ring
• 1 wire hanger
• polyester padding
• wide shiny bow
• sewing machine
• Needle
• Thread
• Scissors

Procedure:

1. Fold each calico strip lengthwise, right sides together.
2. Sew a 1/4″ seam and turn right side out to form three tubes.
3. Fill each tube tightly with polyester.
4. Sew the ends of the tubes closed.
5. Sew all three tubes together at one end.
6. Braid from the sewn end keeping the tubes flat as you braid.
7. Secure the ends together by positioning them so that the ends of the tubes are even.
8. Join both ends of the braids to form a crown.
9. Sew a bone ring to the back to use as a hanger.
10. Tie a large bow in front over the seam where the braids meet.
11. Bend a wire hanger into a circle leaving the hook for hanging.
12. Fasten with studs on the back of the crown, to better maintain the shape of the crown.
