Individual Cell Phone Plans

There are many cell phone plans offered by cell carriers in the United States such as AT&T, Sprint PCS, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile, etc. Choosing or not choosing an individual cell phone plan depends entirely on the needs of each individual.

The first thing to look for in an individual cell phone plan is to know exactly what you are looking for in regards to your personal use. Is it mainly for receiving calls or do you plan to make a lot of calls? This will determine whether you should opt for a prepaid connection or billing plans.

Prepaid plans are best for those who primarily receive calls. If you intend to make a lot of calls, a prepaid plan can end up being extremely expensive as call and SMS rates for prepaid calls are higher than billing plans. However, billing has a disadvantage over prepaid as it involves a lot of charges and fees. You will also need to sign a contract to use the plan for a specific period of time.

The other factor to consider when purchasing an individual cell phone plan is the type of calls that are expected to be made on the cell phone. Will there be more local, national or international calls?

Then one should check the type of phone that you are getting. Do you want additional features like a camera or an MP3 player? Mobile phone companies bundle other promotional offers like free mobile phone or camera phone etc. Often one can get free accessories for the phone, such as a car charger or a data cable to connect it to a computer.

The plan of each cell phone company includes price, promotional offers and free minutes. Depending on one’s individual usage, one can find a number of cellular plans. However, individual cell phone plans are good for those without family. With family members, you can go for a family wireless plan where family members pay less to make calls.
