About the company
ACN, Inc. is a multi-level marketing or MLM company headquartered in Concord, North Carolina, United States. ACN began operations in the United States in 1993 as American Communications Network. It then increased its operations in 1999 to Europe and in 2004 to Asia-Pacific. Currently, operations are present in 20 countries. ACN is part of the Direct Selling Associations in Europe and North America. ACN is a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau in the United States.
The product and the service
ACN offers services such as videophones, digital telephony, mobile and high-speed internet, and landline telephony. Fixed telephone service is offered, both long distance and local. VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol such as video phone service, satellite television, DSL Internet, dial-up Internet access, home security services, and wireless services are also provided to consumers and small businesses.
The models
There are variations depending on the country. There are 3 models followed by the services offered by ACN. The first model is the resale of ACN-branded services starting with an incumbent provider. It is approached through local or long distance phone, where ACN purchases local phone service from a provider like AT&T and then bills customers under its own name. The spread of deregulation internationally caused ACN to operate outside of the United States.
The second model is done with ACN acting as a sales agent for the service provider. An ACN representative will sell the service, but the service, billing and fulfillment of the order are the responsibility of the provider. ACN will resell wireless plans from all of the major wireless carriers and major home security providers. The third model is done by selling ACN-provided and branded services. These include Videophone and Voice over Internet Protocol where ACN will resell consumer tools built to specification.
This seems to be a legitimate opportunity.
