Lansdowne Street: A Boston-Style Pub in Bonita Springs, Florida

Almost everyone in Massachusetts knows that Lansdowne Street is the street that runs behind Fenway Park.

Bonita Springs now has its own Lansdowne Street. And while it’s not located just steps from the legendary home of the Boston Red Sox, it sure does feel like it from the inside.

Located inside the Bernwood Design Center near the corner of Old 41 Road and US 41, Lansdowne Street is a new restaurant and pub that recreates the experience of sitting in a Boston bar. Modeled after Beacon Hill’s well-known watering hole, The Sevens, Lansdowne Street oozes gritty Northeast charm. The interior is all brick and rich, dark wood. At one end of the establishment, there is a Green Monster scoreboard and an “old school” dart board. At the other end is an old stained glass window from a Cambridge church and a working fireplace. In between is a veritable museum of Red Sox memorabilia, plenty of flat-screen TVs tuned to New England sports, and a stately bar serving over 48 different types of beer. Some of the standout beers include Lefthand Brewery’s Milk Stout, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, and Harpoon IPA, hard to find in Florida and a Boston favorite.

The Lansdowne Street serves lighter style pub grub. Its menu revolves around the concept of gourmet sandwiches. They have everything from vegetarian panini offerings to fully decorated pinwheels. All of Lansdowne Street’s signature sandwiches are named after Boston’s busiest roads… The Mass Pike, Newbury Street, Yawkey Way. They also have a full selection of salads, chili, clam chowder, Boston baked beans, and a lobster roll that is not to be missed.

Music from the jukebox echoes from the corner. Live music happens from time to time.

On St. Patrick’s Day, we had a block party outside with a tent set up. We had an industrial size grill set up, live music…the waiters were serving green Pabst Blue RibbonSays Lansdowne Street Owner Michael Maurer.Thousands of people came, you could barely move in the crowd, it was amazing.”

Red Sox and Celtics games are played. Northern accents foul the air. Whoops and cheers erupt as David Ortiz knocks one out of the park. This is a place where you can watch the games like they do in Boston…with a Fenway-style crowd of like-minded fans cheering on the team. Lansdowne Street in Bonita Springs is “the nation’s southernmost outpost of the Red Sox.” Don’t you think you should pay him a visit?
