Restaurant Review – Eric’s Office Restaurant and Taproom

This article won’t do you much good unless you live in upstate New York near Rochester. If so, you should read this and pay attention, because we found a great place!

Eric’s Restaurant and Tavern.

My wife and I had to be in Canandaigua at seven, so I turned on the computer and searched for restaurants near where we would be. I knew we would want somewhere close as we would be eating too late for us. We are creatures of habit.

Eric’s is at 2475 Macedon Rd. It’s just off Main Street and you better be alert when turning onto Macedon Rd. because Eric’s is immediately on the left! I almost missed it! The drive from Rochester wouldn’t be bad, even from Syracuse, and Eric’s is worth it!

What made it so nice?

What made the place so nice for me was the atmosphere. You have to understand that I am sixty years old. Now I consider myself quite young in thought, but there are times when I walk into a bar/restaurant and feel out of place. There is not a person older than thirty-five years in the place. It’s like us more mature adults have nothing better to do than sit at home and watch houseplants grow.

When we walked into Eric’s, I’d say ninety-five percent of the people there were over forty. Now don’t go thinking that it was a quiet place where all these geriatric patients were playing checkers. The place was hopping! There were two big screen TVs playing a game of basketball and people were laughing and in the bar area, it was hard to hear!

Shannon the bartender was attentive and each of us had a drink before we had a place to sit. Once we were seated, we had a bowl of popcorn in front of us and a menu so we could decide what to eat while we waited for our table. We had to wait almost forty five minutes for our table as the place was packed!

How is the food?

Most of the menu items were reasonably priced. There were some more expensive items, say around fifteen dollars a plate, but even that’s not too bad. My wife got a portabello mushroom wrap and I got a cajun grilled chicken sammie. The wait wasn’t too bad for the food and when it came it was worth every minute. We both really enjoyed our food. I have to say that Eric’s has great fries!

If you’re just a short drive from Canandaigua and want a good meal in a place that seems designed for a slightly older patron, but isn’t dead, check out Eric’s Restaurant and Taproom. It’s a great site!
