Travel tips on things to do and see in Orange County, California

Many tourists travel to Orange County, California throughout the year to enjoy the beachside areas of Southern California and the beautiful, sunny weather. There are two airports that serve the OC and they are LAX, the Los Angeles Airport which is a bit of a longer drive, or the smaller and closer John Wayne Airport which is right in Orange County. When you arrive in Orange County, you can use Orange County Airport Transfers or an Orange County Airport Taxi Service to get to the hotel you have decided to stay at from the airport.

There are many things to do and see during your visit to the OC. There are some popular attractions that many people enjoy visiting and some are quite historic as well. Mission San Juan Capistrano is considered the birthplace of OC and is over 200 years old. It is a monument to how multicultural California is and its history. Another historical site to see is the Richard Nixon Library and the birthplace of the former President of the United States. This is a great place for history and politics buffs to see.

There are many other attractions to see while visiting Orange County. A popular one is the Flight Deck Air Combat Center, which is ideal for those interested in all things aviation. This is a fun attraction for people traveling with children as well. If you prefer boats to planes, then be sure to take one of the several charter boats that go out to see dolphins and whales. Depending on the time of year, you can see quite a few of these beautiful ocean mammals in their natural environment.

There are several different places to visit and one of them is just off the coast of Orange County called Santa Catalina. It’s a group of channel islands in a row off the coast and is a fun thing to do on a day trip. Another must-see area is the sophisticated and beautiful oceanside city of Newport Beach. It has lots of fun things to do including outdoor dining, boating, and lots of great shopping at various upscale boutiques. Newport Beach emulates what the OC is all about, the beach setting and the affluent lifestyles of the wealthy who live here.

The beaches are what really defines Orange County and these areas have become better known to those who enjoyed The OC television show or the reality show called Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach does not have extensive beach areas due to the large cliffs that offer incredible views for homeowners in their multi-million dollar homes. One beach that offers long, great beaches is the city of Huntington Beach, California. This also has a large connected city park system that offers a host of great outdoor activities for more active visitors, including equestrian areas, golf, tennis, a marina, and a wildlife preserve.
