WoW Gold Generation Systems – A 5 Point Guide to Guides

I never seem to have enough gold in Warcraft. Kill the mob, loot the mob. So it’s hoping something valuable turns up that improves my mob killing ability, or is worth a few more gold pieces on the auction house. But when you’re saving for the next big purchase. Maybe an epic flying mount, then it seems like you’ll never have enough gold.

Let’s be honest; the game opens with more gold. Your character can look and play however you want. You’re happy to strut around your faction’s capital knowing you’re one of the best-equipped, and you’ll most likely get the invites for those adorable loot-laden instances.

Perhaps you’ve taken a look across the web at some of the many gold crafting systems that are available for Warcraft. There are a few to choose from. Some offer great systems, others probably a waste of money.

Let’s take a look at the factors you should consider when looking for a WoW gold generation system.

1 – A guide must be up to date. Wrath of the Lich King is no longer new. Any website that makes claims like “Now updated to Wrath of the Lich King” is probably out of date. Blizzard has released three massive content patches since then, and the dynamics of the game have changed considerably. An old guide is not worth much.

2 – Does the website tell you what the guide contains? For me this is a major concern. A small image of the menu system used in the guide is simply not enough. I want a video or screenshots that show me what I’m spending my money on. Of course they can’t show you everything, but more than “Here’s the menu, isn’t that pretty?”

What if you go to a car showroom and the salesperson won’t let you in? He’s trying to convince you to buy his car, but he won’t show you what they look like. He won’t stop talking about how bad other cars are. Would you shop like this in the offline world? I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t.

3 – Have your BS filter fully turned on. The claims made by some guidebook producers are not only hard to believe, they go against all logic and evidence. Here is a fact. Blizzard themselves, in an interview, as recently as December 19, 2009 have stated. Categorically, that in no account anywhere, on any realm or on any server, does anyone have two characters over the gold limit. It has never happened. Period.

Have you seen someone make claims like this? Keep this in mind when considering purchasing them. Also consider why someone would bother doing it. With a character at the top, you run out of things to buy. You could have all 10 possible characters on that realm at level 80, and equip them with two sets of the best gear, and give each of them the most expensive mounts, and still not use the 214,000+ gold you had, So, why do it twice? Or do you have any claims more than twice? Unless you were planning to use the gold to do things outside of ToS, what would be the point? Hundreds of hours of extra grinding, auction house rigging for what? Take these unrealistic (and Blizzard denounced) claims with a massive pinch of salt, and treat anyone who makes them with the utmost suspicion.

If you see a guide advertised with these claims, I refer you to the Blizzard interview from December 19, 2009. Blizzard, the game makers. The people who own and run all the official WoW servers say it has never happened. Make your own decision.

That’s not to say you can’t simulate some characters on a private server to make it look like they’re on the gold cap. That would be very simple. Private servers tend to be very slow (since they are running on a shoestring budget), so that might be an aspect to consider. If you were interested, you could even set up a server client on your own PC.

At this point, consider this. If someone just built a major gold crafting system for Warcraft and is looking to market it, wouldn’t you make the YouTube video when your server wasn’t lagging? I mean, if they really made a great legit product, spent weeks on it, expected it to generate decent performance for months to come, wouldn’t it be common sense to wait ten minutes for local lag on their official server? calm down before filming a YouTube promo? I’m pretty sure it would. Of course, if you’re on a permanently lagging private server and have simulated the entire project, then they’ll have no choice but to record lagged video.

Also, they may want to be careful when making claims in a product promotional video that do not relate to what viewers can clearly see on the screen. Saying things like “I’m having orange lag” is not a good idea when the lag monitor icon on the Warcraft taskbar is clearly in view, and it’s obviously green. Another tip might be to not present alt’s as “level 1 auction house alt”, when a quick glance at the character taskbar shows skills and talents that are not available to level one characters. Just something to keep in mind when watching these videos. If you detect these irregularities, draw your own conclusions about the product and services offered.

4 – To protect yourself, make sure any product you choose comes with a full 60-day warranty. If it doesn’t state that there is a full money back guarantee, then it almost definitely doesn’t exist. Make sure the payment is processed by a reputable company like PayPal or ClickBank

5 – Finally, take a good look at the “bonuses” that are offered (everyone has them). Do these have any real value to you? Are they just things you could Google in five minutes? Many of the guides that offer a lot of bonuses, but most of Thottbot offers a very light and better information for free.

Good luck and happy gold panning.
