Emotional Healing How Brandon Bays Dissolved His Tumor

Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, once said that psychologists have been looking in the wrong place and that the key to healing lies in dissolving negative emotions. Sometimes a book just says ‘read me’ and Brandon Bays’ The Journey perfectly illustrates Gary’s point and the power of emotional healing.

the tumor

Brandon Bays had been a natural healing practitioner in the alternative medicine field for twelve years. He ate healthy vegetarian food, drank pure filtered water, kept fit, and had assisted Tony Robbins, the famous guru of NLP and positive thinking, in numerous workshops. However, in the summer of 1992, he found himself in a doctor’s office hearing words that he could not believe. The doctor told him that he had a tumor the size of a basketball and that this was the reason for the dramatic weight gain that so concerned and embarrassed Brandon.

The doctor told him that he would have to remove the tumor immediately. She eventually, though skeptical, agreed to give Brandon a month to try to cure him with alternative methods.

Support and first steps towards healing

Surrounding herself with some close friends and her husband Don, Brandon, people she knew would support her, Brandon decided to ‘trust the universe’ with whatever happened in the healing process. A series of unexpected but important events led her to a masseur named Surja with an unusual approach that supported Brandon’s belief that she would “…need to figure out what memories and unresolved emotional patterns from the past resided in the cells, learn any lessons “. were there, and finally solve them and release them”.

the emotional breakthrough

As Surja massaged, she asked Brandon if he’d like to mentally go into the tumor and take a look. Surja’s suggestion seemed like the right thing to do, but Brandon was afraid. When he went inside, his womb looked scary enough, he wanted to go right back out, but something told him he had to trust the process.

It entered the tumor and an area that appeared “particularly dark.” She had a memory come up and she wanted to dismiss it because she had dealt with it before. Her logical mind wanted to rule it out. Surja suggested that it would be a good idea to see if there was anything she could learn.

Brandon was surprised at the strength of his feelings. He was four years old when the incident occurred. He felt that he was finally allowing himself to feel the emotions that he had allowed himself to feel at that moment, as tears rolled down his cheeks.

He then envisioned a campfire where the others involved in the event sat together with the adult and four-year-old Brandon. She asked his parents why they had reacted this way and they explained his reasons, which gave Brandon a new understanding. Then Ella Surja asked her if she felt ‘complete’. Brandon said no, and in his mind she replayed the campfire scene. This time he forgave his parents. She now she felt complete.

Over the next few days, Brandon worked on more memories on the same subject with the help of a few friends. He had worked on the central themes with Surja and the memories surfaced and the emotion in each one was released, ‘like beads on a string of pearls’. Brandon realized that the negative pattern that had caused the trauma had been with her for much of her life; he now she saw him clearly.

back to the doctor

After a month, Brandon returned to the doctor, who informed him that the tumor was now the size of a cantaloupe and had shrunk quite a bit. Brandon was disappointed that the tumor was still there. The doctor wanted to know how she had shrunk the tumor, but only from a medical point of view and what foods and herbs she had used; she told him that she was not interested in the emotional healing that had taken place. Brandon was upset by the doctor’s clinical approach and the fact that she thought he had failed, he left the clinic with a heavy heart.

Hope Renewed and Tumor Free

She called a friend, Skip, who informed her that she was still healing and the size of the tumor was still shrinking and that the doctor didn’t know her at all, certainly not from an emotional standpoint. Skip gave Brandon the number of another doctor who had a more comprehensive and holistic approach. He was going to go there in two weeks.

Brandon put his faith back in the universe and the fact that the emotional healing was still working and shrinking the tumor. Two weeks later, Brandon left the clinic with a clean bill of health. The tumor was completely gone!
