How to Print DVD Covers at the Right Size Every Time

One of the problems I’ve noticed among those who like to print covers for their DVD collections is getting it to come out the right size. For a long time mine would always end up with about a 1/4 inch cut.

I have used different programs with varying degrees of success. Sometimes they came out perfect, but most of the time I wasn’t completely satisfied with the results, and if I was, sooner or later I’d be asked to turn in my dough, now that the trial period was over.

I recently started using the free software Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) to print my covers, and now they always come out in the correct size.

STEP 1: If you don’t already have Irfanview, download it (see link above). Once downloaded, open it.

STEP 2: At the top of the page, in the left corner, you will see “File”. Click on that. Click “Open.” Now, navigate to where the DVD cover you want to print is located. Click on it. Now click open and you will now see the image in the Irfanview window.

STEP 3: Again, click on File. Click Print. This will open the print preview. For print size, select custom.

The measurements you want to enter depends on whether you want it to fit a standard size DVD case or the slightly slimmer slim case.

Standard size case width: 27.6 centimeters Height: 18.4 centimeters

Slim Line Case: Width: 10.5 Inches, Height: 7.25 Inches.

Make sure you have the correct units for customization and position (inches or centimeters) selected and click print.

STEP 4: Wait a bit for it to dry (Obviously you can say this better than I can since I don’t know what kind of paper you’ll be using. You might want to use photo or matte paper instead).

STEP 5;

Trim excess paper, either with scissors or an Exacto razor, razor, etc. Be careful!

Insert it into the DVD case and there you have it!
