LMFAO – From Los Angeles clubs to debut album

For years, Sky Blu and Red Foo, two DJs from Los Angeles, have been working the clubs of Los Angeles. Although these two have a long history of playing tunes, it might seem like an unlikely pair to start playing tunes themselves, but in the last couple of years they have proven otherwise.

In 2007, the two made an appearance at the Winter Music Conference in Miami and it’s all been uphill from there. Sky Blu and Red Foo, who are the two members of the band known as LMFAO, have since been signed to Interscope Records. Their first official EP was released in 2008 – Party Rock EP. Currently in 2009 they have just released, again under the Interscope labels, their Debut Album called LMFAO LA LA LA.

LMFAO’s musical style is a mix of electronica and hip hop, which is called “electro-hop” by some, giving the music an eclectic feel and sound. Sky Blu and Red Foo have enjoyed bringing this new style of music to light, which included touring the US even before releasing their debut album this year. His first hit single was actually inspired by his time at the Winter Music Conference, which took place in Miami.

LMFAO artists definitely push the boundaries of music. However, it’s not just the music that’s drawing fans to this group. The personalities of the two members, Sky Blu and Red Foo, have been a big part of the draw. His fun and easy-going nature has brought him a huge following.

LMFAO has developed a large following on MySpace, with his own page and thousands of friends on his list. Many videos of their music and even funny videos of the band’s personality can also be found on YouTube. In fact, YouTube initially banned his first song for inappropriate content. After that incident, LMFAO’s popularity has only increased.

LMFAO is currently on tour throughout May and June 2009. One scheduled appearance is at DList Magazine’s 2nd Anniversary, which is taking place in Seattle. They will perform at the anniversary party along with Samantha Ronson and other guest artists.

Although LMFAO is a fairly new band, they show no signs of fading away like some have in the past. They have a huge following and continue to acquire new fans as they tour and expose more and more people to their unique brand of music.
